About Dr. Koehn

From a very young age, after spending lots of time on my grandfather’s dairy farm near Trufant, Michigan, I knew that I wanted to be a veterinarian. I worked my way through various positions from kennel staff, receptionist and eventually veterinary assistant prior to becoming a veterinarian. During that time, I enjoyed raising bottle fed kittens and puppies and abandoned wildlife. My motto was “they might not all make it but we won’t know unless we try”.

My love for animals and the people that own them has made me the veterinarian that I am today. I believe that knowledge, compassion and respect are the core of a positive veterinary relationship.

In 2007, I graduated from St. George’s University. My clinical year was completed at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. After graduating I worked in general practice and emergency medicine before finding my true passion as a full time, solo spay/neuter/ wellness veterinarian performing thousands of surgeries a year.

I look forward to getting to know you and your pet(s).

During Your Pet's Surgery

We understand that surgery can be stressful for both you and your pet and will do everything that is necessary to ensure a positive experience for all involved. We offer:

Heated Surgical Table

Monitoring

As well as the doctor, your pet will have a dedicated veterinary nurse from start to finish. Heart rate, respiration rate, and oxygen levels will also be monitored electronically.

IV Catheter and Fluids

This serves to keep patients hydrated and support the circulatory system. It also provides direct access to a vein should an emergency situation arise.

Pre-Anesthetic Blood Profile

Alerts the veterinarian to possible complications and allows us to make changes in the anesthetic protocol if necessary.

Pain Management

We will assure that your animal is comfortable before, during, and after their procedure. Pain management not only serves to reduce discomfort but also aids in a quicker recovery.

Personalized Discharge

We provide personalized discharge instructions and follow up as necessary.

Should complications arise or you have questions, we will always be available during office hours.

It is important to us that you are comfortable with the process from start to finish. Please do not hesitate to discuss any questions or concerns.

Aftercare Instructions

You will be given personalized surgical discharge instructions at the time of pick up your pet. However, here is some general aftercare information.
