In the past ten years, I have performed thousands of surgeries a year, roughly 100 per week.  Proper protocol and care are of utmost importance.

We want you to be prepared and supported from the moment you schedule your appointment until your pet is completely recovered. Each patient is different and will have an individualized anesthetic plan to ensure reduced stress, a smooth recovery, and proper pain management.

You will be given personalized surgical discharge instructions at the time of pick up. But here is some general aftercare information you may find helpful.

Here are some general reminders:

• No food after midnight the night before surgery. If you have a young puppy or kitten they may have a small morning meal.
• You do not have to pull water
• If your pet is currently on medication please let us know prior to surgery. This allows us to plan ahead for any changes that may be necessary in protocols. In most cases, it will be recommended that you continue to give as prescribed. It is ok to give previously prescribed medication with a small amount of food.
• Plan ahead- after you pick up your pet, they may still be sleepy and mildly uncoordinated. Try to devote a space for them to rest and recover avoiding stairs or other obstacles where they could fall and injure themselves.

After vaccination, it is usual for the pet to return home and return to normal activity, however, vaccinations stimulate the immune system, an inherently inflammatory process. It is considered normal in the first couple of days to experience certain side effects. Please visit our aftercare page for further details.

Every year, millions of unwanted dogs and cats, including puppies and kittens, are euthanized. Spaying and neutering prevent unwanted litters, helps protect against some serious health problems and may reduce behavioral issues.
