Laboratory Services
We recommend pre-anesthetic blood testing for all of our patients. While optional for young and healthy pets, senior pets (over seven years of age) are required to be tested due to possible increased anesthetic risk.
The information obtained allows us to understand whether your pet’s vital organs are functioning properly, may reveal undetected health problems and avoid potential anesthetic/surgical complications. If your pet has abnormal test results, we may then take special precautions during surgery or even reschedule it. Normal blood work gives us baseline information that we can refer to if your animal becomes ill.
Most testing can be performed in house or will be sent out to an outside lab for further testing. Here are just some of the laboratory services we provide:
